Public Speaking Camp for Kids

The main aim of this workshop is to provide students with the opportunity to develop and practice their public speaking skills in a supportive environment. It fosters positive interaction amongst students, providing social experiences within the class. Speaking in front of an audience can be a daunting task, even for adults! Yet it doesn’t need to be. With a little guidance and practice, your children can gain the confidence needed to speak in front of an audience in a confident and articulate manner. This workshop will expose students to the tools and skills needed to be a poise and confident in their communication with others.

Abacus Math Club is designed to introduce Abacus math for students in K-12th grade. This course will help to develop mental arithmetic skills by using abacus and carefully structured lessons/worksheets designed by AGAPE Education Consulting Group. The lessons/worksheets are activity based that helps our young achievers to have fun while developing proficiency in solvoing mathematical problems.

The program is based on textbooks from the national curriculum of Singapore, which has consistently ranked as the top nation in the world for fourth- and eighth-grade math achievement. Starting in first grade, students work on problem-solving in a series of workbooks. They also sharpen their mental math skills by participating in math sprints—after doing a brief physical exercise, like jumping jacks, to get their blood pumping, the children answer as many problems as possible on a worksheet in a set amount of time. Math sprints are not graded, but serve as a fun and active way for the children to hone their skills.

Reading and Writing Enrichment

In this classes, the students will enhance both their reading and writing skills. The mechanics of writing (capitalization, punctuation, and correct usage) will be emphasized as well as the parts of speech. Persuasive and descriptive paragraphs and short compositions will be included in their portfolios. The students will be able to stand in front of the class and proudly read an original piece of writing. In reading the students will build their comprehension skills by becoming stronger in the following skill areas: fact & opinion, compare and contrast, context clues, predicting, main idea & details as well as inference. They will also read and act out simple plays, which will help build confidence in speaking before an audience.

Spanish Camp for Kids
* Beginner's Spanish Fri 1-2:30pm (7 Sessions) Tuition: $265
This introduction to Spanish class will immerse children with no previous Spanish instruction to the basics. Using songs, games, and art activities, children will learn the Spanish alphabet, colors, shapes, numbers, family members, fruits, and parts of the body.
