WHAT DO I DO AS A PARENT LEADER?

Agape Leaders Institute has been in the business of  making every child to be a confident speaker in every city and every school since 2008.  We have been doing this by providing Afterschool Debate Academy for middle school students in partnership with Parent Leaders who have stronlgy committed and desired to bring the program to the community.  As a Parent Leader, your ultimate responsibility is to help us to fulfill our mission by getting the information about the Debate and Speech program out to the parents in your community.

OUTLINE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Talk with parents in the community to see if anyone else would be interested in having their children participate in a debate program.
  2. If the interest is there, search for a location to host Afterschool Debate Academy.  The program can be offered at various locations. We currently host our programs in schools, churches, libraries, community houses, YMCAs, YWCAs, or even private homes. Honestly, any location that has a space to occupy a group of 6 to 12 students will be suitable for the program.
  3. Once the location has been identified, Agape Leaders Institute contacts the location to secure the facility for the number of sessions needed.
  4. Parent Leader will discuss with Agape Leaders Institute for potential dates and times to begin Afterschool Debate Academy.
  5. Once the information has been decided, Agape Leaders Institute will draft a flyer for the Parent Leader and put the information on the website.
  6. Parent Leader will then begin to recruit students to participate in Afterschool Debate Academy.
  7. Parent Leader becomes the contact person to provide and distribute information to other parents in the community. Parent Leader will also answer questions from the parents and forward any challenging questions to the Community Outreach Coordinator at Agape Leaders Institute.
  8. Parent Leader will participate in a bi-weekly phone conference with the Community Outreach Coordinator of Agape Leaders Institute and other Parent Leaders to hear important announcements about the future classes, tournaments, and other issues that need to be discussed.  During the phone conferences, Parent Leaders will have a chance to share out any challenges and/or successes with other Parent Leaders.  The time will also be used to ask and answer any questions Parent Leaders may have.
  9. Although Parent Leader is a voluntary position to bring a debate program to the community, the child of the Parent Leader will receive a full scholarship to participate in the program. If the Parent Leader does not have a child to participate, he/she may extend the offer of a full scholarship to a student of his/her choice.

    PARENT LEADER APPLICATION FORM

You must complete the application to be considered for the position.
Upon receiving and reviewing the application, the Community Outreach Coordinator will call you for a 15 minute interview.  Once the decision is made, we will email you the certification to be the Parent Leader for your community.
